Dr Naeem Dalal, MD, BScHB, MBChB, MMED Psychiatry Registrar.

Naeem is leading grassroots to system level change around mental health. He has a track record of impact as a Zambian youth mentor and mental health expert, psychiatry registrar at University Teaching Hospitals, and public health chairperson of the Zambia Medical Association.

Dr Dalal is an alumina of the International Brain Research Organization. He fosters research skills in youth as the Mentorship Director of the Young Emerging Scientists in Zambia and serves as a metal health expert advisor for Sati smartphone app which offers on-demand psychosocial listening services to users. He is an active Global Shaper: World Economic Forum, representing Zambia and low-resource settings by changing the perspective of brain health coupling awareness and acceptance.

Dr Dalal is the founder of a mental health community in Zambia called Ganizo, which is redefining mental health disorders at the grassroots level combining culturally-sensitive dialogue with current trends in neuroscience. A staff development fellow at the University of Zambia delivering lecture series on the neuroscience of psychiatric disorders, Dr Dalal is currently serving as an interim board member of the Healthy Global Brain Initiative whose mission is to improve the lives of people affected by neurological and mental health problems by financing breakthroughs, incorporating lived experience and driving a new global model of collaborative research. He has been recognised globally and locally by Zambia’s Ministry of Health for his innovation for strengthening mental health and psychiatry services.
