    Dr Simon Rice

    Lead, Young men’s mental health work stream

    Dr Simon Rice is a Senior Research Fellow and Clinical Psychologist. He leads Orygen’s young men’s mental health research stream where he is developing new ways to engage and support young men experiencing mental ill-health. He has broad research interests stemming from his clinical and consulting work across the youth mental health and elite sports sectors.

    Simon has held fellowship and project grant funding from a range of competitive national and international schemes. He completed his masters-level clinical training and PhD in Melbourne, and has undertaken postgraduate training in clinical epidemiology. He is an experienced educator, having completed formal teacher training, and has held secondary and tertiary teaching positions throughout Australia and South-East Asia. He is regularly invited to speak internationally.

    He leads a number of international collaborative research projects and is a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Elite Athlete Mental Health Consensus Group. Simon was awarded the Australian Psychological Society’s prestigious Early Career Research Award in 2016, and in 2015 received the Early Career Scholar Award from the Society for Mental Health Research.
