    Youth Advisory Council Member

Maria is based in Sydney and is a final year student studying a Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Newcastle and is dedicated to creating social change and using her voice to benefit those hampered by bias and inequality.

Within Maria’s first year of university she was advocating on the Post-2015 Agenda at the United Nations, and only weeks later was representing medical students at the World Health Assembly in Geneva.

Maria was selected to represent Australia to the 2016 Girls20 Summit in Beijing, where she advocated for tangible, scalable solutions to increase female labour force participation and partook in intensive training by international experts in organizational strategy, leadership, and communication. Following this, she joined the Policy Team at Level Medicine, a non-government organisation that seeks to inspire an ongoing conversation about the gender disparity in the medical profession and to advocate for gender equality.
