At Orygen, our leadership and staff work to deliver cutting-edge research, policy development, innovative clinical services, and evidence-based training and education to ensure that there is continuous improvement in the treatments and care provided to young people experiencing mental ill-health.

The project lead will provide leadership, supervision and oversight of the project and tasks contracted for the Mental Health Practitioners in Secondary Schools initiative, funded by the Department of Education (DET). Operating at a senior level, possessing significant clinical and governance experience across the mental health sector, the Project Lead will be responsible for effectively managing all aspects of the project delivery and execution, ensuring that milestones are met on time, and are delivered on budget.

Reporting to the national projects manager, this role will have an exceptionally strong understanding of the current research in youth mental health.

The role

Part-time (0.8 FTE) fixed term position available until November 2020

The project lead will be responsible for a number of activities and deliverables:

  • Lead the development of a project work plan, negotiate and prioritise workload with the project team to enable the successful delivery of initiatives and projects.
  • Plan, develop and deliver evidence-based resources to the practitioners employed under this initiative, through the provision of written and online resources via the mental health portal.
  • Provide advice and consultation to mental health practitioners employed under this initiative through the mental health advice line, supporting best practice, appropriate assessment, intervention and referral for specialist support.
  • Meet key delivery milestones as negotiated with the Department for the successful execution of the contract.
  • Monitor and mitigate project delivery risks and effectively manage the project budget.
  • Contribute thought leadership to influence decision making processes, such as quality and continuous improvement and organisational planning and reporting.
