Orygen’s Policy & Advocacy activities focus on shaping the future of mental and public health services for young people.
A major priority for the team is to bring a national focus to the challenges that the one million young Australians who suffer from mental ill-health face and to reduce the wide range of consequences that flow from it.
By working to shape policy and practice in youth mental health through research and analysis, the team aim to develop original solutions and strategies that ensure Government policies and funding support an improvement in care for young people.
Another focus of the Policy & Advocacy team is to promote understanding of young people’s needs and the mental health system and bring people together to learn, share knowledge and debate. This is done through public events, policy analysis, submissions, comprehensive reports and white papers.
All research is conduced from the principles of evidence, experience and expertise.
