The Graduate Certificate in Youth Mental Health is a 12-month, part-time course, consisting of 4 x 12.5 point subjects.

The course is delivered online through the Centre of Youth Mental Health at The University of Melbourne.

It is designed for professionals working in health care and education, and is intended to equip students with essential, foundational knowledge in youth mental health.

The course is offered as a nested program, allowing students to exit with a Graduate Certificate after one year of part-time study, or to progress to a Graduate Diploma or Master of Youth Mental Health.

Topics include:

  • the major theories of youth development and mental health;
  • key features of the range of high prevalence mental health problems experienced by young people and corresponding best-practice interventions; and
  • engagement and assessment strategies for working with young people experiencing mental ill-health.
