Borderline personality disorder

People with borderline personality disorder (BPD) will often describe their symptoms as confusing or unstable; they might feel ok one minute and very angry or sad the next. They may experience outbursts, have trouble controlling their temper, and can sometimes feel like they don’t know who they really are or that their sense of self is unstable as though they are in a dream.

There is no single cause or reason why someone might have BPD; it usually comes about as a result of a combination of complex environmental factors and the genes we are born with.

Getting help early for BPD can help young people learn to manage their symptoms and address other social, work or educational difficulties they may be facing.
