Trans and gender diverse young people

These resources aim to build the knowledge and skills of youth mental health professionals to work inclusively and affirmatively with trans and gender diverse young people and their families, and to create culturally responsive environments for trans and gender diverse people engaging with mental health services.

The creation of these resources would not have been possible without the invaluable contributions of our partners, a dedicated expert working group, youth advisors, family advisors, and additional consultation with a range of experts in gender diversity and youth mental health.

Orygen would like to recognise that developing inclusive and affirming practice within our own organisation is an area of ongoing learning and capacity-building. This includes efforts to build and strengthen collaboration with gender diverse young people and their families, and the community, health, and mental health organisations that specialise in and champion gender affirming care. The connections formed through this project reflect part of this commitment.
