Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is the most prevalent personality disorder seen in clinical settings, including early psychosis services. This condition is characterised by instability in relationships, self-image, and emotional states and is accompanied by self-damaging impulsivity, often including deliberate self-harm. The presence of co-occurring borderline personality disorder in early psychosis can make the treatment of early psychosis more difficult, and it is therefore important that clinicians and early psychosis services develop the skills and processes to help young people with this condition recover and achieve a good quality of life.
