Lived Experience Strategy

Lived Experience Strategy

The practice of lived experience work at Orygen is the first of its kind for any youth mental health organisation in the world.

Underpinned by the Lived Experience Workforce Framework and the National Lived Experience Peer Workforce Development Guidelines, Orygen’s Lived Experience Strategy 2026–2028 illustrates how our values and principles shape our organisational practice, foster a thriving lived experience workforce, and establish Orygen as a global leader in embedding lived experience in youth mental health.

This is a strategic document, outlining the key concepts, values, principles and enablers necessary to support lived experience workers as a core part of Orygen’s workforce, with tangible actions matched with transparency and accountability to our people and the broader sector.

It is a commitment to meaningful change in the youth mental health system.
