Cheering on Melissa Leong and Leah Wilson as they compete in The Amazing Race for Orygen

9 September 2025

As the new series of The Amazing Race Australia kicks off, Orygen is proud and grateful to be chosen by friends Melissa Leong and Leah Wilson as their charity partner. The pair will race to raise funds and awareness for Orygen’s world-leading work in youth mental health and eating disorders.

Melissa Leong, best known as a judge on MasterChef Australia, is also a freelance food and travel writer, broadcaster and cookbook editor. She has teamed up with Leah Wilson – a clinical counsellor and coach – to compete in the reality show and highlight a cause close to both their hearts.

For Melissa, who has been open about her own experiences with anxiety and depression, supporting youth mental health was a natural choice. Leah, who has lived experience of caring for family members with anorexia and complex mental health conditions, has said Orygen’s leadership in eating disorders research was key to their decision.

Both Melissa and Leah have pointed to Orygen’s world-leading research and clinical innovation as reasons for their choice, and by selecting Orygen as their Amazing Race charity partner, they are helping shine a spotlight on the urgent need for greater support for young people’s mental health.
