National Youth Week 2016

National Youth Week 2016

5 May 2016

National Youth Week is an annual, week-long celebration that gives young people across the country an opportunity to express their ideas and views, and act on issues that affect their lives.

As part of the celebrations, members of Orygen’s National Youth Advisory Council and Youth Research Council:

  • came together to hold their bi-annual face to face meeting

  • attended our Inaugural Youth Partnerships in Research Partnerships mini-conference

  • wrote an excellent blog on how to be a youth mental health advocate

  • produced daily tips promoting well-being across the week, including this one from Christine:

Finally, each of Orygen’s headspaces hosted some amazing events as well, these included:

  • The Youth Advisory Group (YAG) at the Glenroy centre held an extremely successful open day

  • headspace Sunshine celebrated the diversity of young people in their community by hosting their inaugural ‘culturest’

  • Young people from headspace Craigieburn took part in their first leadership forum

  • An art exhibition was opened at Werribee, featuring a diverse collection of artwork created by young people in the braveART and ninjaArt groups.
