Cătălina-Maria Popoviciu

Cătălina is a clinical psychologist and mental health researcher with expertise in youth mental health, social media, and community-based models of care.

At Orygen Global, she serves as EMROSA Hub Coordinator for the Being Learning and Support Network and EMEUSA Hub Coordinator for the Wellcome Trust Community of Practice. Previously, she has contributed to a Wellcome Trust–commissioned project exploring a platform for culturally adapted, version-controlled mental health outcome measures and to a UNICEF Georgia initiative focused on the development of the country’s youth mental health service model.

Beyond her work with Orygen Global, Cătălina is the founder of Project Well Association in Romania, a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving youth mental health, and the co-founder of Let’s CEE, a regional initiative advancing youth mental health research, innovation, and collaboration across Central and Eastern Europe. She has also worked as a consultant for the WHO Regional Office for Europe, supporting initiatives on youth participation and youth mental health.

Cătălina completed her PhD at the University of Bucharest, where her research focused on the associations between social media use and youth mental health. She is also a Fulbright Fellowship alumna.
