Professor Rosemary Purcell
MPsych, PhD

Professor Rosemary Purcell is the Scientific Director of Orygen Global’s WHO Collaborating Centre for Young People’s Mental Health. She is a Professorial Fellow in the Centre for Youth Mental Health at the University of Melbourne and a registered psychologist, and leads research in Mental Health in Elite Sport.

Rosie established the Elite Sports and Mental Health research team at Orygen, which focuses on understanding mental health challenges in elite athletes and coaches and developing optimal strategies for improving and maximising mental health and wellbeing in sporting environments.

She has worked with a range of major Australian sports and is a member of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Expert Consensus Group on Elite Athlete Mental Health and the  Consensus Group on Elite Youth Athlete Development. 

Rosie has co-authored 190 journal publications, more than 25 book chapters and two books.
