Ata is a second-year student at the Bard College Global Degree Program, majoring in political science, a Rohingya refugee youth advocate and emerging researcher from the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

He is currently engaged in higher education and global learning initiatives with a strong focus on youth leadership, advocacy and social justice. He also founded NextGen Rohingya Network which addresses access to education, digital literacy, leadership development, mental health issues and gender inclusion.

Ata has lived experience of displacement and statelessness, having fled persecution in Myanmar and grown up in a refugee camp with limited access to formal education, healthcare and psychosocial support.

Driven by community needs, Ata works at the intersection of mental health, education access and youth empowerment. He has been involved in grassroots initiatives supporting Rohingya youth through awareness sessions, digital learning, advocacy and community-based projects. His work focuses on amplifying the voices of refugees, addressing structural barriers and developing sustainable, youth-led solutions.

Through the Fellowship, Ata aims to strengthen his skills in youth mental health advocacy, apply evidence-based frameworks in low-resource settings and contribute lived-experience-informed perspectives to regional and global conversations on youth mental health.
