Martin is a human rights advocate, legal professional and youth activist from Timor-Leste. He holds a Bachelor of Law from the National University of Timor-Lorosa’e and is currently studying criminology online at the University of Melbourne.

His work focuses on legal research, policy analysis and rights-based advocacy, particularly in areas related to youth, gender equality, digital rights and social justice. Martin has professional experience working with government institutions, civil society organisations and international partners, including roles at the Autoridade Nacional do Petróleo, the Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Industry, Oxfam and legal associations in Timor-Leste.

He has contributed to research, policy briefs and advocacy initiatives that address structural inequalities and promote inclusive governance. Alongside his legal work, Martin is actively involved in youth leadership and community engagement. He is a member of the Futuru Líder Ba ASEAN (FLBA) program and has participated in regional and international forums on human rights, mental health and digital freedom.

He is passionate about advancing youth mental wellbeing through advocacy that centres on lived experience, dignity and social change.
