Brianna (she/her) is a proud Iningai woman. She is 21 years old, living, working and studying on Wulgurukaba and Bindal land in Townsville, North Queensland.

She is currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), majoring in Business, Health and Physical Education. Brianna works several jobs including as an Executive Support Officer for Queensland Health, as a tutor for First Nations university students through JCU’s Indigenous Education & Research Centre and as an Indigenous Student Ambassador for JCU.

Brianna is passionate about a range of mental health areas and wants to advocate for and reflect the barriers experienced by First Nations people and people living in regional, rural and remote communities.

Given school plays such a large part of young peoples’ lives, stressors and experiences, Brianna strives to make an impact on the ways in which mental-ill health is viewed within education and how this can best support the needs of young people.

Brianna has been involved in a range of consultation and design groups with the Queensland Government, working to ensure that policies, such as the Young Queenslanders Strategy, are supportive and reflective of young people all across the state/nation, and that they are able to be understood by the people who they are most relevant to.
