Jessy (she/her) is a 23-year-old proud Gubbi Gubbi and Finnish woman living in North Brisbane, Queensland. She currently works full-time at the Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC) as a Support Officer within the Child Safe Organisations team. In this role, she supports the implementation of the 10 Australian National Child Safe Standards, the Universal Principle, and the Reportable Conduct Scheme across Queensland.

Jessy recently graduated with a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) and a Bachelor of Justice (Policy and Politics). She previously served on Orygen’s National Youth Advisory Council and is now a rolling recruitment member.

With diverse lived experiences and broad professional background in outreach, consultation, psychology, and research, Jessy brings a holistic understanding of the challenges young people face—particularly in relation to youth mental health. She is passionate about amplifying the voices of children and young people, advancing and advocating around First Nations justice, promoting mental wellbeing, ensuring accessibility generally and in systems that support young people.

Some highlights of Jessy’s career so far include delivering a TEDx talk on breaking down cultural stereotypes, leading the QFCC Youth Summit in 2023, and now contributing to the safety of children in Queensland through her role in Child Safe Organisations.

Looking ahead, Jessy is open to where her path may lead but remains committed to working with young people, supporting others to reach their potential, and driving meaningful change.
