Professor Sarah Bendall is a Principal Research Fellow and Clinical Psychologist. She leads Orygen’s research programs into Trauma and Youth Mental Health with a broad focus on trauma-informed care and improving service delivery for young people affected by exposure to trauma experiences.

Sarah's research focuses on:

  • Examining the role of trauma in the development of psychosis
  • Understanding trauma-exposed young people’s experiences of mental health services
  • Treating post-traumatic stress disorder in young people
  • The development of evidence-based models of trauma-informed care in youth mental health services.

Sarah leads Orygen’s trauma-informed care training programs and trauma policy work within the Orygen Institute. She is also an executive committee member of the Statewide Trauma Service and practices as a clinical psychologist at headspace Sunshine.
