Talking to Friends: The Power of Peer Support

Talking to Friends: The Power of Peer Support

A study about how young people support each other.

Investigators: Prof. Kelly Allott & Julijana Chochovski

Many young people struggle with their mental health, yet more than half don’t reach out to professionals. This study explores how young people in cities receive support from friends or peers. By hearing your story, we hope to understand how informal support helps with coping, resilience, and pathways to further help if needed.

What does the study involve?

The study will involve a one-on-one recorded interview (via phone or Zoom) about your personal experience of receiving support from a peer or friend. The interview will last about 60 minutes. A researcher will also check in with you one week after the interview.

You will receive a $50 gift card as reimbursement for your time.
